Netherlands Enterprise Agency grants DOOR CMO recognition
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency has granted Fruit and Vegetables CMO (common market organization) recognition to Grower Cooperative DOOR. The board and management regard CMO recognition as valuable support in achieving DOOR’s strategic goals and ambitions. This recognition will enable us to implement the Operational CMO Plan with effect from 2019. CMO recognition stimulates market-driven production, supply pooling, and making the production method more sustainable through subsidies.
According to chairman Jack Groenewegen, Dutch horticulture benefits from having several strong producer organizations in the Netherlands: ‘Grower Cooperative DOOR aims to become one of those producer organizations. One of our key strategic objectives, therefore, is to expand from 570 hectares to 800 hectares in 2021. This would strengthen our market position even further and facilitate further professionalization of the organization.’
‘Although this professionalization has already started, CMO support will enable us to speed up the process,’ says Managing Director Jan Opschoor. DOOR’s Operational Plan includes projects such as year-round delivery, market channel development, data and robotization, and making production more sustainable. Substantial investments will be made in collective projects soon, such as constructing a new distribution centre involving several DOOR brands, all to strengthen the market position of our businesses and brands. With this recognition, we hope to be of even more added value for existing and new members.
A key aspect of this process was the positive and constructive cooperation with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, which we are fully confident will continue during the start-up of the Operation Plan and recognition checks.
